Football : le champion du monde espagnol Ferran Torres signe au PSG

Le Paris Saint-Germain a officialisé ce samedi la venue de l’attaquant de la Roja Ferran Torres en provenance du FC Barcelone contre un chèque d’environ 50 millions d’euros. L’unique buteur de la finale du Mondial, remportée par l’Espagne face à l’Argentine (1-0 a.p.) s’est engagé jusqu’en 2031 avec le club de la capitale et vient renforcer le secteur offensif après le départ du buteur portugais Gonçalo Ramos qui a rejoint l’AC Milan. Torres, formé à Valence, avait atterri à Manchester City en 2020 avant de débarquer au Barça lors du mercato hivernal 2022. Avec les Blaugrana la saison dernière, l’attaquant espagnol, capable de jouer à tous les postes offensifs, a disputé 33 matchs en Liga en marquant à 16 reprises et en délivrant 2 passes décisives. Torres, qui n’a plus joué depuis la finale de la Coupe du monde le 19 juillet dernier, vient de reprendre l’entraînement ce samedi avec ses nouveaux coéquipiers.

England opened the scoring through winger Archie Guyver, who finished a backline move in the corner. Centre Zac Jones converted, but the South Africans responded in the early exchanges when hooker Charles Whitehead scored from a driving maul.

The hosts then took control. Winger Ncutu Kepe and No 8 Jacobus de Villiers crossed, with flyhalf Ethan van Biljon converting both tries as the home team turned an early deficit into a lead.

The English fought back through centre Will Moore after South Africa had twice held up visiting ball carriers over the tryline. Jones converted to reduce the deficit.

Kepe then showed his footwork to score his second try of the half, with Van Biljon converting. England had the final say before the break when flank Charlie Bray scored from a maul, leaving South Africa with a narrow advantage at half-time.

The hosts struck quickly after the interval. The replacement hooker proved difficult to contain close to the line.

South Africa then resumed their attack through replacement hooker Theo Boshoff and Van Biljon, with Achmat Behardien converting both to stretch the lead throughout the opening spell.

Behardien then delivered a pinpoint crossfield kick for winger Anesu Kuzonyei to score, before England responded through hooker Taine Elone and another try to reduce the gap.

South Africa hit back through De Villiers, who finished a move initiated by the forwards, while England scored again through replacement outside back Jack McIntosh.

Boshoff then completed his hat-trick with two further tries from driving mauls. Behardien converted both as the local youngsters finished strongly.

In January 2015, AB de Villiers produced an innings that redefined what was thought possible in one-day cricket, reaching a century off just 31 balls against West Indies at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

De Villiers finished unbeaten on 149 from 44 deliveries, striking 16 sixes and nine fours at a strike rate of 339, a record for any ODI innings of 50 runs or more.

Along the way he also broke Sanath Jayasuriya’s 19-year-old record for the fastest ODI fifty, getting there in just 16 balls.

His hundred came five balls quicker than the previous record of 36, set by New Zealand’s Corey Anderson against the same opposition a year earlier.

The innings was built on a second-wicket stand of 192 off 68 balls with Hashim Amla, who finished unbeaten on 153, while Rilee Rossouw also brought up a century as South Africa piled up 439 for 2, their highest ODI total at the time.

West Indies finished on 291-7 in reply, as South Africa completed a 148-run win to move 2-0 up in the series. More than a decade on, the record still stands.

Kaizer Chiefs were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns despite taking the lead at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi spent large periods of the match sitting deep and allowing Sundowns to dominate possession, but they found a way through in the 63rd minute.

After the Sundowns defence failed to clear a dangerous ball, Siphesihle Ndlovu did brilliantly to hold off two defenders before finding Langelihle Phili. The winger made no mistake, firing past Ronwen Williams to give Chiefs the lead.

However, their advantage lasted just 10 minutes before Cassius Mailula equalised for the visitors.

Here are two reasons why Kaizer Chiefs failed to turn their lead into a victory.

1. The wrong substitution

Immediately after scoring, Phili was replaced by Ethan Chislett. While the decision is understandable given that the winger had already been booked for taking off his shirt during his goal celebration, Chiefs arguably lost an important attacking threat at a crucial stage of the match.

If Fernando Da Cruz was concerned that Phili could pick up a second yellow card, Mduduzi Shabalala would have offered a more attacking alternative.

With Wandile Duba already on the pitch, Shabalala’s pace and ability to carry the ball could have created more problems for the Sundowns defence and potentially opened up space for Duba.

Instead, Chiefs lost one of their biggest threats at a time when Sundowns were chasing the game.

Kaizer Chiefs needed to be brave and attack more

2. Defending for the draw

Amakhosi appeared increasingly content with a point as the match entered its final stages.

Da Cruz introduced Adolf Mtasingwa for Lebohang Maboe in the closing stages, a change that suggested the priority had shifted towards protecting the 1-1 scoreline.

That approach is understandable against a side as dangerous as Sundowns, but Kaizer Chiefs were playing at home and had already shown that they could hurt the visitors.

A more adventurous approach could have seen Flavio Silva introduced for Mmodi, while Shabalala could have replaced Phili. Maboe could also have made way for Mfundo Vilakazi if Amkhosi wanted to commit more players forward.

Instead of trying to win the game, Kaizer Chiefs appeared more focused on ensuring they did not lose it. Against Sundowns, that may be understandable.

But having taken the lead, the Glamour Boys had an opportunity to claim a statement victory, and their conservative approach ultimately left them with only a point.

Why did Chiefs not go for it?

La Confédération africaine de football (CAF) vient d’accorder une homologation temporaire en catégorie 3 à l’enceinte sportive de Conakry, permettant ainsi son utilisation pour les compétitions africaines durant le mois de septembre 2026.

La décision a été notifiée à la Fédération guinéenne de football (FGF) dans un courrier daté du 14 août 2026, signé par Samson Adamu, Secrétaire Général par intérim de la CAF.

À la suite de l’inspection récemment effectuée au Stade du 28-Septembre, l’instance dirigeante du football africain a reconnu les progrès réalisés sur les infrastructures.

« À l’issue de l’évaluation effectuée par l’inspecteur de la CAF, et compte tenu des améliorations réalisées au niveau des infrastructures du stade, la CAF a décidé d’accorder au Stade 28 septembre une homologation temporaire en catégorie 3 de la CAF pour le mois de septembre 2026 », écrit la CAF dans son courrier adressé à la Fédération guinéenne de football.

Cette décision constitue une avancée importante pour le football guinéen. Elle permettra notamment à l’équipe nationale de Guinée de disputer à domicile son prochain match de qualification à la TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations KE-TZ-UG 27, contre le Kenya.

La CAF ouvre également la possibilité aux clubs guinéens engagés dans ses compétitions interclubs d’utiliser le Stade du 28-Septembre pour leurs rencontres à domicile durant cette période.

« Cette homologation temporaire permettra à l’équipe nationale de Guinée d’accueillir son prochain match de qualification à la TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations KE-TZ-UG 27 à domicile. Elle permettra également aux clubs guinéens engagés dans les Compétitions Interclubs de la CAF d’utiliser le stade 28 septembre pour leurs matches à domicile durant cette période, sous réserve de la volonté des clubs concernés et de la Fédération Guinéenne de Football », précise l’instance africaine.

Une homologation qui reste sous surveillance

Si cette décision constitue une bonne nouvelle pour la Guinée, elle ne signifie pas pour autant que le Stade du 28-Septembre a définitivement obtenu son homologation. La CAF insiste sur le caractère temporaire et limité de son autorisation.

« La CAF tient toutefois à préciser que cette homologation est accordée à titre temporaire et pour une période limitée, compte tenu de certains points qui demeurent à corriger afin d’assurer la conformité complète du stade aux exigences applicables de la CAF », souligne le courrier.

L’instance africaine se réserve également la possibilité de dépêcher un inspecteur des infrastructures lors d’un match organisé dans l’enceinte pendant cette période.

Cette présence devra notamment permettre d’évaluer les conditions opérationnelles du stade et de vérifier la mise en œuvre des exigences prévues par le règlement des stades de la CAF.

Les travaux doivent se poursuivre

La décision de la CAF constitue donc davantage une étape qu’une conclusion. L’instance continentale encourage les autorités guinéennes et les responsables concernés à poursuivre les travaux engagés afin de parvenir à une conformité complète et durable.

« La CAF félicite toutes les parties concernées pour les progrès réalisés à ce jour et les encourage à poursuivre, sans délai, les travaux et mesures correctives nécessaires, avec pour objectif de parvenir à la conformité complète et durable du Stade 28 septembre aux exigences de la CAF », peut-on lire dans le courrier.

Le Stade du 28-Septembre retrouve ainsi temporairement son statut d’enceinte habilitée à accueillir les compétitions africaines. Une perspective qui concerne directement le Syli national, mais également les clubs guinéens engagés dans les compétitions interclubs de la CAF.

Pour le football guinéen, le défi est désormais clair : profiter de cette homologation temporaire tout en achevant les travaux nécessaires pour obtenir une validation durable de l’enceinte.
