'We are always one step ahead of them...': Deepti ahead of clash against PAK
The stage is set for the much-awaited clash of the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026. Team India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
Ahead of the match, Team India's star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has expressed confidence and said that the "Women in Blue" are always one step ahead of Pakistan.
"Look, there is no advantage as such. The only thing is that whatever we have won against them (Pakistan), whether it is the Asia Cup or any other matches, we are always one step ahead of them. And that's it," she said in the pre-match press conference.
She then said that both the batting and bowling departments of Team India are balanced.
"The whole team is performing well. If you look at the bowling unit or the batting unit, I think both things are balanced. The one who has a good day, she tries to do better and take the game further. And those around her, they try to stay positive things so that they step in more in their game," said Sharma.
In the ongoing Women's T20 Asia Cup, Team India is in the top position in the points table of Group A. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has a net run rate (NRR) of +5.775 and four points. On the other hand, Pakistan is placed in the second position with a net run rate (NRR) of +1.750 and two points.

India’s Spinners Crush Pakistan in Women’s Asia Cup

Indian bowlers delivered a collective masterclass as they dismantled Pakistan for just 55, their lowest-ever total in T20Is, in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2026. The spinners kept Pakistan under pressure throughout the innings, attacking the stumps, varying their flight and making it almost impossible for the batters to build any momentum.
Shree Charani led the way with an outstanding 3/7, striking twice in her first over before adding another wicket to leave Pakistan reeling. Her flight, dip and turn repeatedly troubled the batters, while her disciplined lines forced them into risky shots.
Prema Rawat was equally impressive, finishing with 3/9. She kept the stumps in play and used her control and subtle turn to squeeze the life out of Pakistan’s middle and lower order. Her dismissal of Nashra Sandhu was another example of her ability to tempt batters into mistakes.
Shafali Verma chipped in with 1/10, while Deepti Sharma claimed 2/5, including the crucial wicket of captain Fatima Sana and the final wicket of Tuba Hassan. Deepti and the other spinners never allowed Pakistan to settle, with wickets falling at regular intervals.
India’s bowlers shared the responsibility impeccably, and the result was a complete collapse of Pakistan’s batting unit. Poor shot selection and the decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired for Pakistan as they looked clueless in their outing.
Chasing 56, however, India were given an early scare as Shafali, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal were dismissed cheaply. Pakistani skipper was the only bowler to take wickets for her side, striking three times with her disciplined bowling as India slipped to 29/3.
But Pakistan could not build on that pressure. Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti steadied the innings with a composed partnership, taking India safely across the line. Their calm approach ensured there were no further setbacks as India completed a comfortable seven-wicket victory with 11.3 overs to spare.

India Vs Panama: When and how to buy tickets for international friendly match
India’s international friendly against Panama will now be played on September 25 at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The match was originally scheduled for September 26, but the date was moved forward by a day because the venue will be used for the Bengaluru Marathon on September 27.
The stadium will serve as the starting and finishing point of the race, making it difficult to hold the football match on the original date.
The match will be part of India’s busy international schedule and will be the first of three high-profile friendlies during the September-October FIFA international window. Panama, who featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will provide India with a strong test.
When will India vs Panama tickets go on sale?
The All India Football Federation has confirmed that tickets for the India vs Panama friendly will go live on the District platform next week. Fans looking to attend the match should check the official listing on the District platform for the sale date, ticket categories and prices.
How to book India vs Panama tickets?
Once the sale opens, people can visit District through its website or app and search for the India vs Panama match. They can then select the available ticket category, choose their seats and complete the payment. Fans should use the official ticketing platform rather than relying on unauthorised sellers or social media listings.
The AIFF has not yet announced the ticket prices or the exact time at which the Panama tickets will be released. Those details are expected to be made available through the official ticketing listing.
India’s other international friendlies
The Panama match will be followed by two major fixtures in Kolkata. India will face five-time world champions Brazil on October 3 at the Salt Lake Stadium before taking on two-time world champions Uruguay at the same venue on October 6.
The three matches are part of a new international schedule for the Indian team, with the AIFF choosing to prioritise these friendlies over participation in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup.
India had been scheduled to feature in the ASEAN Cup, but withdrew from the tournament after the AIFF decided to focus on the high-profile matches against Brazil, Uruguay and Panama. Bangladesh were invited to take India’s place in the competition.
The decision has drawn criticism, but the AIFF has maintained that the friendlies will give the Indian team valuable exposure against stronger opposition.
