The singles semi-finals of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships are officially set, after a stellar mix of dominant performances, emotional and shocking upsets, and breakthrough moments. In a rare statistical occurrence, all four singles quarter-finals on Wednesday, 8 July, were decided in straight sets, with Alexander Zverev continuing his pursuit of a maiden Wimbledon title. In the women’s draw, Linda Noskova also booked a maiden Wimbledon semi-final after a superb performance.

Alexander Zverev defeated Taylor Fritz: 6-4, 6-4, 6-2

Second seed Alexander Zverev defeated American Taylor Fritz in straight sets, looking in complete control from the opening exchanges. He served with remarkable consistency, blasting 14 aces and winning 77% of his first-serve points. The victory booked Zverev his first career Wimbledon semi-final on the historic lawns of SW19, where he will face Arthur Fery on Friday for a place in the final.

While Zverev impressed throughout, Fritz entered the match full of confidence but was clearly hampered by an ongoing knee problem that became increasingly evident as the contest progressed. As a result, he struggled to move freely, particularly during extended rallies.

Arthur Fery defeated Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0

Wildcard Arthur Fery stunned ninth seed Flavio Cobolli with an outstanding display. Fery completely dismantled his opponent with his attacking intent and clean ball-striking. He made an aggressive start, firing eight aces and 27 winners while committing just 15 unforced errors.

Although Cobolli attempted to mount a fightback in the second set, Fery remained fearless under pressure. He attacked the second serve effectively and produced several superb passing shots to take a two-set lead before racing through the third set to seal victory.

Marta Kostyuk defeated Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-2

The women’s draw began on Centre Court with 12th seed Marta Kostyuk taking on 2024 finalist Jasmine Paolini. Kostyuk produced one of the finest Grand Slam performances of her career to defeat Paolini and reach her maiden Wimbledon semi-final.

Kostyuk’s powerful start immediately put her in control of the contest. While Paolini had battled through several difficult matches to reach the quarter-finals, she struggled to cope with Kostyuk’s relentless pace and accuracy, failing to create a single break point during the one-hour match. Kostyuk controlled both sets from start to finish and broke the 13th seed’s serve four times to cruise into her second consecutive Grand Slam semi-final. She will now make her maiden Wimbledon semi-final appearance.
